I have a problem with it beuscae more or less, it is a useless upgrade. I'm not going to ever own a Blu-Ray player if I can help it, but I wouldn't even consider it without a large HDTV to go along, as well as some sort of receiver and external sound system. Most people I know (including myself) do not own large digital televisions or have surround sound. Most of them cannot afford it either. The price of the players, the movies, and the blank media is appalling. Considering that all you're really getting is a slightly higher-fidelity image and sound, the cost of admission is just too high. I'm not going to get any more enjoyment out of movies or TV if I can see them a tiny bit more clearly. It's not as big of a step up as DVD was to VHS, and it happened way, way too soon. On top of that, the economy is terrible, and such a minor upgrade simply isn't worth the price for a public who can't afford groceries.I still believe that something better (even something that is here now, digital distribution) will come along within the next few years, before DVD gets phased out, and Blu-Ray will be discarded as another useless intermediary format and I want no part in that.
